Fabric and Lace Clock Wall Ornament

I made this wall ornament shaped like a clock from fabric and lace. Embellishments include pearls, dangling crystals, fabric flowers and an applique from a wedding dress. The clock face and hands were cut using a Sizzix die and I attached a doily in the center.

The tag reads "Time for a cup of tea" and there is a pocket on the back where tea bags can be tucked in as a gift.

Double Paper Bag Scrapbook Recipe Not-so-mini Album

I just finished making a 12-category recipe album based on my Double Paper Bag Not-so-mini Scrapbook Album.

I used Graphic 45's Home Sweet Home paper stack. In addition to lots of space for recipes, this album has lots of pockets and pull-outs to hold photos of family gatherings and mementos.

It has a wrap-around cover. The spines are wrapped in fabric and I used a few sheets of scrapbook paper left over from other projects to wrap the front and back covers.

The paper bags are expandable. If you've already purchased my Double Paper Bag album tutorial, you can refer back to the online list of accompanying videos where I just uploaded an additional video that shows how I attached the flaps so that the bags could expand to hold lots of recipes. (If you purchased the tutorial from my Etsy shop and don't have the web address to the list of videos, email me at scrappinrabbit@gmail.com and I will send you the web address.)

If you want to make a similar album but haven't yet purchased the tutorial, it is available at www.scrappinrabbit.com/2015/06/tutorial-double-paper-bag-scrapbook.html. You can also download my free Kitchen Helps and Favorite Recipes printable pages from the same link.

Below is a video that shows my recipe album in detail.

Tutorial - Birdhouse and Scrapbook Mini Album Set

In this tutorial, I show you how to create my Birdhouse & Scrapbook Mini Album Set

The birdhouse is made of chipboard and comes in two pieces – the bottom section that holds the album, and the top section which forms the roof (lid). It measures 8-1/2”w x 10-1/2” h with a
thickness of 5-1/2” at the top of the roof.

The scrapbook album measures 7”w x 5-1/2”h and is 3-1/2” thick. The left side of the album has two cover flaps that fold over a stack of photo mat pages. The right side of the album has pages made with paper bags

I show you how to make your own “paper bags” from cardstock or scrapbook paper in case you don’t have the same size bags. I used mostly paper I had left over in my stash to make these sets. I did use a few sheets of the Tim Holtz Idea-ology bird-themed papers for the set on the left. For the cat album set that I refer to as a demo in this tutorial, I used a few sheets of cat-themed paper by “Forever in Time”.

The tutorial is in PDF format and contains 50 pages of extremely detailed step-by-step instructions with about 225 photos that show how I created this project from start to finish. Measurements are included for each piece you will need to construct the set.

In addition to the written tutorial, I'm including free links to my series of unlisted ONLINE VIDEOS that show how to make the journal album as I create a brand new one from start to finish. I plan on making these videos available to everyone who purchases my tutorial for as long as the service provider can continue hosting them for free.

Below are videos of the two sets I made based on this tutorial. (If you have difficulties viewing the videos, you can click the links below each one to view them on my YouTube channel.)
A list of supplies I used to make this project is available at www.scrappinrabbit.com/p/supply-list-birdhouse-scrapbook-mini.html.

8x8 Floral Scrapbook Mini Album

Below are the details and dimensions if you want to replicate my 8"x8" FLORAL scrapbook mini album. I list the papers and punches/dies I used, but use the supplies you have in your stash to customize your album.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to view a video that shows this album in detail.

Papers I used:
  • 5 sheets Recollections 110 lb cardstock for base pages
  • Recollections 65lb cardstock for pockets, flaps, inside front and back cover, tags etc.
  • About 1/2 pack of "Botanical" by Susan Winget (K&Company)
  • 6 sheets of "Secret Garden" collection by Bo Bunny (including cut apart sheet)
  • A few extra sheets of paper from my stash
Binding method:  All-in One
(You can refer to my tutorial on YouTube at https://youtu.be/1aI5RS4zrrc)

Punches and dies:
  • Abstract Flower Punch (EK Success)
  • Garden Gate Punch (Martha Stewart)
  • Regal Borders & Pockets Dies (Heartfelt Creations)
  • Decorative Accents Labels 42 (Spellbinders Nestabilities)
  • A2 Scalloped Borders Three (Spellbinders Card Creator)
  • Arched Elegance Pocket Dies (Spellbinders)
  • Majestic Labels 25 Die (Spellbinders Nestabilities)
  • Oval Majesty Die (Spellbinders)
Video tutorial: Tip for getting more designs out of your Heartfelt Creations Regal Border dies (https://youtu.be/NmjeTjSBofw)

Dimensions:

Sizes shown below are for the finished pieces. Sizes in parentheses are size of paper I need to start with. For example if the finished size of my pocket is 8"w x 3"h, I trim my cardstock to measure 9"w x 3-1/2"h so that I have a 1/2" seam to fold under along the left, right and bottom edges. I'm not including tag sizes as you can customize those as you wish.
  • Chipboard front and back covers: 8-1/2"w x 8-1/2"h
  • Chipboard spine: 3-1/4"w x 8-1/2"h
  • Accordion mini album on front cover:
    - chipboard top: 3-1/2"w x 3-1/2"h
    - inside pages 3-1/4"w x 3-1/4"h (2 strips of cardstock attached together and folded accordion-style)
  • Base pages: 8"w x 8"h
  • Inside front cover - Pocket: 8"w x 3"h (9"w x 3-1/2"h)
  • Page 1 - Photo mat: 4-1/2"w x 4-1/2"h
  • Page 2 - Diagonal pocket: 8"w x 8"h (9"w x 8-1/2"h) - After folding the pocket seams under, I trimmed diagonally starting 1-1/2" from the bottom of the left edge to 1-1/2" from the right along the top edge. (To mat the pocket, trace around the pocket over your scrapbook paper before attaching the pocket down - then trim the scrapbook paper 1/8" inside the lines to leave a small border all around.)
  • Page 3 - Same as page 2 except I trim diagonally starting 1-1/2" from the left edge along the top down to 1-1/2" from the bottom of the right edge.
  • Page 4 - Photo mat: 4"w x 5"h
  • Page 5 - Pocket: 8"w x 3-1/2"h (9"w x 4"h)
  • Page 6 - Flap: 6"w x 7-1/4"h (6"w x 8"h)
  • Page 7 - Photo mats (4): 3"w x 3"h each
  • Page 8 - Left flap: 4-1/2"w x 8"h (5"w x 8"h)|
                - Smaller fold-up flap: 3-1/2"w x 4-3/4"h (3-1/2"w x 9-1/2")
  • Page 9 - Front diagonal pocket: 6"w x 6"h (6-1/2"w x 6-1/2"h) - Fold down left and bottom seams then trim from top left corner down to bottom right corner.
                - Back diagonal pocket: 8"w x 8"h (9"w x 8-1/2"h) - Same as page 3)
  • Page 10 - Pocket: 6-1/4"w x 8"h (6-3/4"w x 9"h)
  • Inside back cover - Pocket: 6-1/4"w x 8"h (6-3/4"w x 9"h)

All-In-One Binding for Scrapbook Mini Albums

In this tutorial I show how to make "all-in-one" pages that self-bind into the album - no need to make separate hinges since they're already included with the page.

You can download my printed directions that include photos and the measurements I used in this tutorial here: http://web.ncf.ca/fq550/scrappinrabbit/allinonebinding/all-in-one-binding.pdf

(Cut the pages to whatever size you want. In this tutorial I have 6 pages, but again cut the number of pages you prefer and adjust the width of the spine accordingly.)

Enjoy!

Make a Storage Binder for Spellblinders, Heartfelt Creations & Other Dies

Today I needed a cheap, easy and quick solution for lugging around my Spellbinders and Heartfelt Creations dies. I like to keep spare die-cuts with my original dies and I use plastic page protectors to keep everything together. A plain 3-ring binder does the trick but it was getting pretty thick so I tweaked my page protectors so that I can store multiple dies on the same page, each in their own pocket.

If you have trouble seeing the video, you can view it on my YouTube channel at
https://youtu.be/NpKvUbN5o-M.

If you want to cover your binder, here's a video tutorial that shows how I cover a plain vinyl binder with scrapbook paper:

Making ornate corners on large scrapbook layouts using smaller Spellbinders frame dies

In this video, I show how I used my regular-sized Spellbinders die to punch the 4 corners on my large scrapbook layout. You can also use this technique in mini albums to embellish photo mats that aren't the same size or shape as the die. The die I used in this project is Nestabilities Labels 42 Decorative Accents.

Get more designs from your Heartfelt Creations Regal Borders Dies

I was tinkering with my Heartfelt Creations Regal Borders Dies hoping to find a way to get more out of them. By combining the borders with two passes in my Big Shot, I made some embellishments I can use in my greeting cards, mini albums and scrapbook layouts.

Some of you are probably already doing this - but my video below shows how I made these embellishments.

If you have other ways of using the border dies, feel free to post comments on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/NmjeTjSBofw) or this blog.

Tutorial - Combination Journal AND Scrapbook Mini Album

In this tutorial, I show you how to create my Combination Journal & Scrapbook Mini Album. This is a brand new style of journal I designed for those who like to write in a diary AND store photos and special mementos all in the same book.

The journal album measures 9"h x 6-1/2"w and is 4" thick. It contains SIX individiual 15-page journals for a total of 90 pages! The album is very interactive. There is a total of 12 pages not including the inside covers: 6 base pages that hold the journals on the front, and photo pages on the back include mini album elements such as flaps, pockets and even a waterfall.  The side of each of the 6 base pages includes a large pull-out tag where you can attach photos or journal some more.

In the tutorial I show you how to create the entire album from scratch including the covers, the binding, the pages, how to attach the pages into the album, how to make the hitch post and chain closure - no need to buy a hitch post when you can easily make your own! I also show how I embellished my album.

As always, the emphasis is on using the supplies you already have on hand. I made the journal album pictured above using the "Meadow" paper stack by Susan Winget (K&Company) - you can also see it in detail in the 1st video below. I also made one using the "Merryweather" stack (K&Company) as seen in the 2nd video. Customize your journal album with the papers and embellishments you already have on hand.

The tutorial is in PDF format and contains 75 pages of extremely detailed step-by-step instructions with about 350 photos that show how I created the journal album from start to finish. Measurements are included for each piece you will need to construct the album.

In addition to the written tutorial, I'm including free links to my series of unlisted ONLINE VIDEOS that show how to make the journal album as I create a brand new one from start to finish. I plan on making these videos available to everyone who purchases my tutorial for as long as the service provider can continue hosting them for free.
